The Hamilton section of the Bay Trail skirts the old runway of the former Air Force base, which was returned to its original wetland state. The trail is flat and accessible as it borders San Pablo Bay. This is an out-and-back walk—you walk as far as you like before you return to our starting point. You will find neat little lookout areas along the way, with benches and informative placards that tell you about the bird life in the area and about the wetland restoration project. They even have stationary binoculars mounted so you can take a closer look at the wildlife out in the wetlands. The views are stunning, with Mt. Burdell to the north, Mt. Tam to the south and Mt. Diablo to the east. After our walk, you can choose to join us for lunch at Kitchen, a lovely and delicious spot for lunch at Hamilton.
