We will continue discussing Heavy: An American Memoir by Kiese Laymon. It is a powerful and
provocative memoir adding insight and dimension to the protests around the country and how
they came about. Laymon writes eloquently and honestly about growing up a hard-headed
black son to a complicated and brilliant black mother in Jackson, Mississippi. The group will
select which book to read for September.
